Visiting Trinidad for the first time. Got into the hotel and couldn’t wait for my first taste of world-famous Trinidad Chicken Curry.
On my way to drop my bag off, I caught the restaurant before they closed.
I requested the chicken curry and asked that they “light it up”. She politely warned me that Americans “just don’t understand”.
Instead, she suggested that I start with the ‘basic’ and add some spice if it’s not hot enough.
I reluctantly agreed as long as she did bring the sauce on the side (because I knew I would need it but didn’t want to get into a debate about it).
Well, I just finished my ‘basic’ and OMG! I’m at my table whimpering like a little puppy. They are bringing me water and bread and asking if I’m okay.
The sauce sits untouched.
